Volcanoes and bears at Kuril Lake
As one of my clients (Clara Davis) described after the tour:
"Kamchatka is an incredibly vast and remote region which is spectacularly beautiful and captivating. A largely untouched part of the world that is unbelievably wild and immensely challenging, yet so very exciting and fascinating.
This region iis home to a multitude of active volcanoes, extensive lava fields, thermal fields filled with fumaroles, ice caves, impenetrably dense forests, pristine lakes and towering waterfalls.
We also stood within a few meters of brown bears, many with cubs, who were feasting on spawning salmon which were present in the waterways in great numbers"
We had our first bear encounters at the Valley of the Geysers but Kuril Lake was the highlight of the trip for many of us. This lake has the greatest concentration of bears in the world. A paradise for wildlife photographers..
