║ Back from Patagonia and Easter Island!!
19 April 2018
The photography tour to Patagonia in March/April this year has been one of the most memorable I have ever done. I went with a very small group of three, but we had an amazing time.
This time we entered Torres del Paine National Park using a cruise and a zodiac and we photographed Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers, saw pumas and once in Argentina, we visited Estancia Cristina, and the Upsala and Viedma glaciers. The walk on Perito Moreno glacier was one of the highlights of the tour and of course the trek around Glaciers National Park near El Chalten is always incredible.
We had some typical Patagonian weather, and that means some great sunrises with beautiful light, but also rain and wind at times.
The trip was an adventure and I can’t wait to be back again. Next year I will have a little break from Patagonia (that was my 7th trip in 5 years) but I hope to return in 2020 and capture some last images that will complete a book I have been working on for years.
Scouting Trip to Easter Island
I have always fascinated about this tiny island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It is the perfect "side trip" after a workshop in Patagonia so one of my students and decided to do a scouting trip to Easter Island and photograph the Moais (statues) for 4 days. It is a very beautiful island and it is an amazing feeling to be in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, but we found that 4 full days was perhaps a bit too long. You can drive around and photograph the Moais and the main crater in just one day! A very interesting island with lots of history though!
