Sand Dunes of the Gobi Desert, Mongolia

This is an image I took whilst running a photography workshop in Mongolia with my friend Ricardo Da Cunha. The image was taken at sunrise in the Gobi Desert during some pretty amazing light conditions that only lasted a few minutes. The Gobi Desert is a vast, arid region that is known for its sand dunes, mountains and rare animals such as snow leopards and Bactrian camels. We certainly saw a lot of camels but no sign of snow leopards or the even rarer Gobi bear. Deserts and its sand dunes and lines are great subjects to photograph. It is a place where you can really improve your composition skills looking at lines, layers of dunes and great light. They have all the ingredients that many landscape and nature photographers pursue when seeking amazing places to photograph.
