Perito Moreno Glacier, Glaciers National Park, Argentine Patagonia
$500 – $5,000
The Perito Moreno is one of the most important tourist attractions in the Argentine Patagonia and genuinely one of the most amazing natural wonders I have ever experienced and photographed.
Over 30 km in length, it is one of 48 glaciers fed by the Southern Patagonian Ice Field located in the Andes system shared with the border nation of Chile. This icefield is the world’s third largest reserve of fresh water after Antarctica and Greenland.
This is a pleasingly minimalistic image consisting of just one major structure and only two complementary colour tones. It’s simple in both composition and colour palette, rich in texture and its narrative explores an interesting elemental dynamic – the solid and liquid states of water and the natural transition between. By its nature it’s also a stimulating symbol for the larger conversation about climate change.
