ABOUT THE TOUR

It’s nearly impossible to define the high- lights for a tour of this calibre, so instead let us tease you with just a taste of the adventure that awaits.

This tour to Sudan has been designed and organised with fellow photographer Trevor Cole who has organised photography tours in the country for many years.

IP Travel Photography tours focus on taking you to places, which have a unique appeal for photography. We seek the beauty of landscape, wildlife and seascape, the heritage of cultural diversity and the bustle of street and marketplaces.

Our tour in South Sudan will seek the best moments, light and opportunities to compose shots, which reflect upon those inimitable moments. We feel it is of value to immerse ourselves in local culture through, not only people and landscapes, but also, where feasible, through culinary experience and accommodation, which is culturally sympathetic. Interaction and understanding and, where feasible, spending time with people, makes moments and images more meaningful.

Trevor and Ignacio pride ourselves on a ‘hands on’ approach, which enables our guests to avail of sessions in which there are photo critiques and a chance to reflect on images captured whilst on tour. It is recommended that all participants bring laptops or tablets so that we can benefit from interaction and discussion, and ways of editing our images to get a result reflecting your own unique style.

Please note that in South Sudan we are camping most of the time so this isn’t really feasible but we can always try!

TOUR HIGHLIGHTS

Central to this unforgettable tour is YOU. Through Ignacio’s guidance, you’ll not only learn the secrets of the masters, but you’ll take your photography skills to the next level and leave your adventure with a collection of powerful, moving photographs that you’ll share with pride.

  • Photograph the unique Photography the Jiye and Toposa villages. They are welcoming and have wonderful villages with beautifully constructed houses, stilted granaries and their compounds are clean. Watching them grind sorghum and cook over fires highlights the degree to which we are privileged in life.
  • Photograpah the Laarim (Boya) villages camping at the foot of the Kimotong hills. These granite exfoliation domes are remnants of ancient intrusive igneous activity. The Boya or Laarim tribe are found in beautiful villages clustered at the foot of these hills.
  • Drive to the Mundari cattle camps at Terekeka or wherever they are located. Dawn and dusk photoshoots and walks around the cattle camp to how the Mundari wake up with their Ankole Watusi cattle. The cattle camp, seldom visited by outsiders, is quite simply incredible. Nothing has quite changed since Sebastiao Salgado photographed the Mundari years ago. They are friendly and enjoy being photographed.
