Colony of Penguins St. Andrews Bay, South Georgia

$500$5,000

I photographed this image during a photography expedition to South Georgia and Antarctica with Luminous Landscapes. I was one of the instructors on the ship and it was my first visit to this part of the world. South Georgia is arguably the most stunning place I have ever visited for wildlife and nature photography. It contains glaciers, incredible mountain landscapes, and huge quantities of wildlife, including millions of penguins! After nearly 4 days sailing to South Georgia, we visited a few sites and my favourite was St. Andrews Bay. When we landed our zodiac, it started to snow heavily. It was overwhelming. We were surrounded by hundreds of thousands of King Penguins, Fur Seals and Elephant Seals. The snow only lasted 5 minutes, but I set up my tripod and telephoto lens and shot quickly. This is my favourite shot of the more than 10,000 images I took during that trip.
