Portrait of Mursi Tribe #1

$500$5,000

The Omo Valley in Ethiopia is one of Africa’s most fascinating regions of cultural diversity, with about two-dozen tribes sharing borders in a spectacular environment. Surrounded by mountains between the Omo River and its tributary the Mago, the home of the Mursi is one of the most isolated regions of the country. Some say that the Mursi are the most aggressive and hostile tribe of the lower Omo valley. We reached the village early in the morning with the other tourists and they were certainly pushy and wanted us to buy their craft and souvenirs. It became quite stressful and so our group decided to stay until the rest of the tourists had gone so we could photograph them properly. Once all the groups had gone, they became a lot more relaxed around us and we could take some beautiful portraits.
