Christ the Redeemer

Christ the Redeemer is one of the most iconic images of Brazil and it is on almost everyone’s bucket list when visiting Rio de Janeiro. The statue is an amazing monument but the real joy of going there lies in the panoramic views overlooking the city skyscrapers and its beautiful coastline. This image, however, was photographed from a helicopter, during a photography tour around Brazil in June 2018.
We went to the airport and the weather wasn’t looking great at all, but we decided to go ahead and fly. The Christ was totally covered in the clouds when we left, but when we arrived at the statue, there were some breaks and amazing light that allowed us to capture some extraordinary and unique images.
This tour was co-led with Ken Duncan, a very good friend and a Christian with an incredible drive and passion for photography. I am sure his strong belief in God helped to open the sky and create this miracle.
